- The map is inspired by the McKinley series, created by David "Zoid" Kirsch for Quake CTF/Quake II CTF. The map takes influence especially from Quake II CTF's q2ctf1. (McKinley Revival)
- The first versions of the map (then simply called am_mckinleyish) consisted on a more straight-forward yet loose recreation of the McKinley maps. In fact, the very first versions even included the Grapple, back when it wasn't modelled. Bad brushwork and lack of detail were the reasons behind the complete remake from scratch of the current am_mckinleyish2. A (final) version of the first mckinleyish is still available in OA's SVN.
- Like many of Neon_Knight's maps, the am_ at the beginning of the filename belongs to his old nickname, "Armageddon_Man".
