Possible incompatibility with 0.8.8[]

I've read that the devs of this mod don't want to support the OA mod version anymore and want to go standalone. So far, it's reported that they dismissed any 0.8.8 compatibility. Is it true or not? --PumpkinKnight (talk) 23:26, August 5, 2013 (UTC)

I have no idea. In their "about page", they mention it as an OpenArena mod, and in the required files they mention OpenArena 0.8.1.... :-/ --The Gig (Contact me) 08:57, August 6, 2013 (UTC)
This forum post says that they are working on a standalone version, and that no new "OA mod" versions would be developed. What a shame... --The Gig (Contact me) 09:01, August 6, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not even slightest surprised. They always wanted to replace OA since they always thought OA was "dead" because "not many people were playing it online" (as if that was really an indicator, considering how much online gaming attract scumbags...) and because "OA wasn't made only for the competitive community". OA has been around for more than 8 years, 5 of them they were dedicated to wish announce the death of the game, yet what died instead were those forks which were made with the intention of becoming "the next OA" or "what OA should have been", precisely for their narrow scope. Now I'm even more motivated to work for OA3. --PumpkinKnight (talk) 11:54, August 6, 2013 (UTC)
Also this: "(Note that AfterShock does not really work with 0.8.8 and tbh 0.8.8 is not needed)". --PumpkinKnight (talk) 19:17, August 6, 2013 (UTC)
And now, the official site has died. Well, I can't say I will miss it. But, once again, OA stands over a defeated fork attempt. --PumpkinKnight (talk) 15:20, December 17, 2013 (UTC)
